To keep track of my work and the decisions I make, I document my work. Some of the documentation is saved in Jira tickets for others to see (and follow my thought process), and others are kept in my personal notebook. This is also where I doodle, add my thoughts and questions, and eventually the final copy solution.
But – to help myself and everyone else who writes at my company – I also create style guides, guidelines, and glossaries. At Svea, the UX writing team created and maintained these files together, but at LeoVegas I am the sole UX Writer, so I’m the only person working on these. I’ve created style guides in English and Swedish, glossaries for English and Swedish, as well as lists of words we capitalize, words that can be replaced for more human words, guides on UX writing, guides for accessible UX copy, guidelines on how to structure Terms & Conditions to make them more scannable and easier to read, and more.
These style guides and guidelines are shared with all the designers, the content team that localizes the copy and writes other content, and everyone else who writes at LeoVegas.
